Covid Update

Park Manor remains free from Covid-19!  We are currently doing routine testing on unvaccinated employees twice weekly.  The frequency of routine testing is determined by county positivity rates, which we continue to monitor closely.

Despite the continued pandemic and other obstacles, it has been an eventful and fun summer at Park Manor.   We’ve been able to resume several activities that we had not been able to do in 2020 – welcome visitors and volunteers into the building, hold church services and live music performances, and gather closer together for picnics and other fun activities.  What an improvement!

With this being said, there has been a significant increase in Covid-19 cases throughout the country, including in our own county and community.  We continue to adhere to all Covid-19 infection control guidelines and recommendations, including:

• Screening of all individuals that enter the facility, including staff, for Covid-19 symptoms and potential exposure

• Verification of vaccination status of visitors in order to determine safest location for visiting

• 14 day quarantine for newly admitted residents who are not fully vaccinated

• Negative Covid-19 test required prior to admission for new residents

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Routine cleaning and disinfection procedures

• Appropriate hand hygiene for residents, staff, and visitors

• Routine testing as recommended

• Testing of any resident or staff experiencing Covid-19 symptoms

• Physical distancing when appropriate

We ask others to continue to be vigilant and follow infection control guidelines in order to keep our residents safe, healthy, and happy.  If you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or any other illness, please postpone your visit.  Phone calls and social media visits via Zoom, Skype or Facebook Messenger are available, and are a great alternative if you are unable to visit in person.

Covid-19 Vaccinations

According to the CDC, COVID-19 vaccines are working very well to prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variant.  Details regarding who will be eligible for Covid-19 booster shots and the recommended timeframes are unknown at this time.  We will continue to watch for updates and will provide additional information as we learn more.

On August 18, President Biden announced that new regulations will be developed that will require all nursing home employees be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.  Further details or timelines have not been released, but we are anticipating more information to come sometime in October.

Flu Shots

Flu season is approaching quickly!  We are planning upcoming dates in September and October for residents and staff to receive flu vaccines – stay tuned for more details!

End of Summer Fun

Park Manor residents have been enjoying new activities, music, games, and visits from family and friends!  We’ve been enjoying fresh tomatoes from the garden, flower gardening, balloon toss, National Lemonade Day with fun treats and activities, crafts and painting, banana splits, and we ended the month of August with a 50’s party!  This was a blast for everyone – “Guess that 50’s car,” “Name that 50’s show,” bowling, Bingo and milkshakes in the afternoon!

Our Activities department is planning some fun Fall activities, including canning pickles, baking apple pies, and an Oktoberfest celebration.  Stay tuned for more information!  We are dedicated to making Park Manor the best place it can be for our residents!  If you have any suggestions that would make it even better, or have questions or concerns, please contact administration.  We are looking forward to a great Fall at Park Manor!
