With the Coronavirus pandemic affecting so many individuals in our surrounding community, it continues to impact the residents and staff of Park Manor. During our routine COVID testing this week we determine two second floor residents were COVID positive. All other residents and staff tested negative for COVID. Additionally, we had a newly admitted resident test positive for COVID-19.
As a result of the positive tests and as part of our normal routine testing, we completed COVID testing on all residents and staff today. We are happy to report we have no additional COVID positive individuals.
The residents that were COVID positive and remain at Park Manor were moved to Woodlands, our COVID positive quarantine unit. They will remain in this unit for 10 days during their infectious period. As a precautionary measure, we also initiated a 14-day quarantine of all residents who live in the two areas in which the COVID positive residents lived. Unfortunately, one of the units is Rivers Edge, our short term rehab section to which all residents are admitted. For this reason, we will also be unable to admit any residents to Park Manor for a number of days.
During the precautionary quarantine, residents remain in their room for all activities and meals. Residents will have advanced respiratory screening done to monitor for any COVID symptoms. Staff wear full personal protective equipment (PPE), including a gown, gloves, face mask and eye shield, with all resident contact.
Until our outbreak is over, we will continue with our COVID-19 infection control processes to minimize the risk of any further spread of COVID-19 to our residents and staff. These include daily health screening of all staff, enhanced cleaning, use of PPE by all staff and residents, extra resident symptom screening, increased hand washing/sanitizing, social distancing of residents during activities and limited visiting. Our twice per week COVID testing will continue for at least 14 to 28 days until Park Manor has 14 days with no positive tests and Price County’s positive percentage is below 10%. Currently the county positive test rate is at 6.4%.
Park Manor will be starting COVID vaccinations for both residents and staff on Friday, January 8, 2021. Please see our previous update regarding the details on the vaccination program.
Please feel free to contact Park Manor administration should you have any questions.
