Greetings to residents, resident representatives, family members, and the community!
We have good news regarding COVID-19 vaccinations for residents and staff. The information we are currently being provided by the CDC indicate vaccinations may be available early in 2021. Through the federal Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program, Park Manor will be partnering with Walgreens to provide vaccines to residents and staff. Long term care facility residents and staff have top priority for receiving vaccinations when the final vaccines are approved. Over the next few weeks, we will be reaching out to residents and their representatives for written permission to administer the vaccination so when the day comes, we will be ready.
Much like the general community surge, with 77 new case in Price County in the last week, Park Manor continues to battle the coronavirus. Our Woodlands quarantine unit remains open with an additional resident transferred to the unit for a total of two residents in quarantine. We tested all staff and residents today and have no new positive results! Unfortunately, over the last week we have had six employees who have tested positive. Our Rivers Edge rehab unit and second floor 500 wing remain in precautionary quarantine as a result of the positive residents and staffs tests.
Routine testing will continue twice weekly for all staff and residents. The majority of our positive results have come from the routine tests which is a good thing. The sooner we are able to identify a positive individual, the sooner we can make sure they are quarantined, protecting everyone else at Park Manor.
As the holidays approach, we know everyone would like to be able to visit with their loved ones. Park Manor, along with the CDC and state of Wisconsin, would recommend to all residents and families that visiting be done by telephone, social media or window visit as weather allows. Each resident at Park Manor has the right to have a visit outside of Park Manor. Residents and their family need to weigh the risks and benefits of leaving the safety of Park Manor given the current surge of COVID in the community. If a resident and their family decide to leave Park Manor for a holiday visit, the resident will be required to quarantine in our Rivers Edge quarantine unit for 14 days upon their return. If you are considering a visit outside of Park Manor, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can plan accordingly.
Residents are handling the continued visitor limitations well with many reaching out to their families and friends via Zoom. Activities staff have also started working on some new and exciting Christmas projects, which both residents and their families should enjoy.
Happy Thanksgiving to All! As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact us at Park Manor!
