PARK MANOR RETURNS TO OUTBREAK STATUS

Park Manor has returned to COVID outbreak status, today, April 6^th, as a result of a non-caregiver employee testing positive for COVID-19. As a result of this change we immediately took the following actions (as directed by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services):

1. Tested all current residents, vaccinated and unvaccinated, for COVID using a rapid point of care device. We are happy to let you know that all residents are COVID negative.

2. Completed employee testing that started on Monday, April 5^th. These test results should be available on Wednesday, April 7^th.

3. Discontinued indoor visiting pending the results of initial testing. If all residents and staff are negative, visits will be started again. Should an additional individual test positive we will evaluate what level of visits will be allowed.

4. No changes were necessary to resident activities within the building as we have continue to practice appropriate COVID prevention measures at all times.

5. We will continue to admit residents to Rivers Edge Rehab and Park Manor. In addition residents who are fully vaccinated will not need to be quarantined when they are admitted.

As a result of our return to outbreak status, as minor as it is, Park Manor will return to testing residents and staff two times per week for at least the next two weeks. If we have no further positive test results, the outbreak could be discontinued as soon as April 21^st. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Unfortunately, Price County has had 12 new COVID positive cases in the last six days, with one being our employee. I would anticipate this number will continue to rise for a few weeks based on what we know about the spread of COVID in the unvaccinated population. The majority of our residents and staff have been vaccinated for COVID. However, much of the younger population has not yet received a vaccination. For this reason we will continue with all of the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention including the following:

1. Screening of all who enter Park Manor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and denying entry to any person with signs and symptoms of COVID or who have been in close contact with a COVID-19 infections in the last 14 days, regardless of vaccination status.

2. Hand hygiene performed using alcohol based hand rub or hand washing.

3. Use of face masks that cover the mouth and nose.

4. Social distancing of at least six feet maintained between people.

5. Continued education to residents and visitors on COVID-19 infection prevention.

6. Cleaning and disinfecting high-frequency touch surfaces in facility and visiting areas.

7. Use of appropriate PPE by staff, residents and visitors.

8. COVID screening of residents and staff according to Wisconsin DHS guidelines.

 GREAT NEW ACTIVITIES COMING FOR RESIDENTS

The activities department has been working to get new events for resident socialization as the weather gets nicer and we continue to move out of pandemic mode.

We are planning Happy Hour with Music, Wine and Painting and various other social events. Attending physicians have given their approval for all residents to occasionally have small amounts of alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, cocktails) during these special events. We will be sending out a separate mailing and discussing the events with residents to allow individuals to opt out of the alcoholic beverage part of the event if they choose to. We will have fun alternative non-alcoholic beverages and snacks available for everyone. These events will not happen every week, but will be scheduled occasions for everyone to enjoy.

Game Day events will also be expanded to include more inside games, including cribbage, cards, board games, and outside fun including lawn darts, Corn hole and ladder golf. We will change up these events based on the interest of our residents.

As always we will continue with our existing activities; bingo, exercise programs, different crafting groups, etc.   We have so much fun coming up with ideas for our residents! If you have ideas for new activities, games or events, please let Krista Boley know.

AMAZON GIFT LISTS

We are in the beginning stages of developing wish lists on Amazon. These will include individual resident wish lists for families to help provide the items residents need or would like, or ideas for birthdays and holidays! We will also have a general Park Manor wish list of things we would love to have for our residents when individuals are looking to donate to Park Manor or provide Christmas giving tree gifts, etc. Stay tuned for more details!

NATIONAL SKILLED NURSING WEEK

National Skilled Nursing Week will be celebrated this year from May 9^th-15^th.   This year’s theme is “Together Through the Seasons” and will honor the collaborative commitment of skilled nursing care facilities and their staff in providing compassionate care to their residents during this unprecedented time.
